Day 25: Astorga to Foncebadón (26km/16.1 miles)

April 17, 2017

Before I talk about today, I wanted to take a moment to show off these amazing photos by Michel. It’s a rare treat to see stars because we usually have a curfew at 10 or 10:30pm. It was a blast playing around under the stars!

Was pretty hard to hold my smile for 30 seconds hahao

My “Little brother” and me!

Okay so TODAY! I slept like a BABY. Having a comfy, fluffy bed with a quiet room is priceless.

I started the day at 7:15am. The plan was to hike for 1 hour to a town for breakfast. Welllll that town was shut down because Spain celebrates Easter until Tuesday. So we had to hike another 4.5 km. We didn’t get to eat until almost 2 hours into the day. Needless to say I devoured my breakfast!

The hike today had more elevation, which I welcomed openly! I am soooo happy to see mountains and scenery other than flat desert.

I am finding the miles are getting easier and easier, just as we are finishing haha! Only 9 more days until Santiago. And then we get to hike to the coast and jump into the freezing cold ocean. While the hiking is getting easier but my body is still struggling. I feel like I am getting ANOTHER cold, that or my lungs are finally getting over the cold I had. Either way I am coughing up a storm.

We arrived to town around 3pm and are staying in an attic/loft sort of room. We even have skylights! Our mattresses are on the ground, haha! A lady runs into the room and tell me to grab my clothes as it started to RAIN! We got mountains AND rain today. What a treat! Minus my clothes not drying haha!

Lucy got to pet a falcon, I think that is what that is!

Our view from the albergue!

A donkey chilling in our courtyard!

Just some goats hanging out!

The sky tonight, love being back in the mountains!! 💜
