Thankfully I slept really well, maybe too well. I didn’t want to wake up! I managed to emerge from bed around 7am and got some breakfast. I started my long day at 8am.
I was in better spirits, most likely due to a good night of sleep. I find I get stuck in my “unconscious” or “reactive” mind when I’m tired. I get very negative and hung up on things when I’m tired. So waking up feeling refreshed was a wonderful change of pace from yesterday.
But being refreshed I was still in a fog. Still feeling a bit disconnected from my surroundings. I focused on the sounds of nature around me and tried to absorb the smells, the noises and even touch the plants I could reach. My momma taught me to do this when I feel anxious. Helps me feel the “now” and not get caught up in “future based” thinking (“stinkin’ thinkin’ as my momma calls it 😊)
I barely took any breaks today. Something I would regret around 27km. Around 24.3km I was SO happy when I came around a corner to see some random benches. It was one of those moments I had to thank the Cosmos, or God, or the Camino, or whatever you wanna call it- just thank someone for the perfect timing.
I arrived to town around 3:30. Managed to hike 33km in 7.5 hours. Usually it would take me closer to 9 hours with the typical breaks. I don’t have as many people around me taking breaks, so it will be on ME to remember to take breaks now.
After laying in bed for a little bit I realized I was starving! I finally had an appetite again! I usually eat a sizeable breakfast (cafe con leche, orange juice, and Tortilla) and for lunch a hearty sandwich (and maybe another cafe con leche, haha.) but today I just had a croissant for breakfast and for lunch I had a snickers and 2 small oranges.
I left my albergue to go get some food and (almost literally) ran into Christian. It was such a pleasant surprise to see him! He is one of those people who makes you feel so calm, just being around him. Idk if it’s his voice or how he carries himself but it’s so relaxing. We went and had a bite to eat and ended up talking for almost 2 hours haha!
Now, I will take another early night since I have another long day of hiking tomorrow. It’s less than today but still 31.4 km/ 19.5 miles.) I will take a rest day in Finnisterre as well before heading up to Muxia. Sad to say I looked at the weather and its supposed to rain on my day off BUT I do love being along the ocean when it’s stormy and rainy. I’ll get a cozy hotel and listen to the rain 😍.

Didn’t quite catch the sunrise but this was still beautiful
