This was a much needed break from hiking. My feet and my soul needed a break. Stephanie was ending her hike in Burgos, so I was so honored to be able to spend a day off with her ❤
We took advantage of the day off and visited the Cathedral, took us 2 hours to go through it!!
Stephanie and I got an amazing hotel, WITH A BATH!!! We ate at the same restaurant 4 times haha. Felt like locals!
Then we went to go see the Castle in Burgos. It was closed but it was a beautiful view of the city. We (myself and Stephanie) were Michel’s “assistants” while he photographed Hanna (Swedish pilgrim) and her boyfriend. He came to Burgos just to see her, was so lovely of him to do that. It was also nice to see so much love between them.
I was so excited to get back on the trail the next day so we went back to the hotel and called it an early night. I was feeling so anxious because I knew I would be very alone the next day. I cried a bit with Stephanie, and of course she gave me one last foot massage. I miss her so, so much already! AND my Camino family. I was spoiled to have a wonderful group but it is a part of the Camino the separate at some point. We all have different time lines and different bodies. It doesn’t make it any easier though…the next day would be true Camino test.
Some photos of our day off:

Cafe con leche at our favorite restaurant “Viva la Pena”

Our incredible hotel room! Only €46

Picture do not do this place justice!

I wish wifi wasn’t so difficult here or else I would post so many more pictures 😩

Michel in his element with Hanna and her boyfriend! Also note that Hanna is taking a selfie, the couple next to them is taking a selfie and the other 2 people were talking a selfie but I was too slow at grabbing this photo to catch them 😩

Obligatory picture with the view of Burgos!

My new addiction thanks to Hanna, cafe bombon! Uses espresso served with sweetened condensed milk in a 1:1 ratio

Me and Stephanie! Tried to make a ❤ with our hands, still turned out to be a cool photo!

An amazing brownie dessert at Viva la Pepa, our 2nd out of 4 times going there Haha!
